The trail starts out in the open under a power line, then soon enters the woods and forks. The Woody trail, on the right, is the more scenic. The well built trail more or less follows the river, at times climbing steeply. The first view of the falls, at an old shelter, makes a good picnic and turn around point for families. Fit hikers will want to continue another 1/2 mile to the middle viewpoint for better views, or to contine yet another 1/2 mile to the valley overlook and end of the trail.
