Show Map
Wenatchee River Ranger District Yes Glacier Peak Wilderness, northwest of Lake Wenatchee. You can barely see Glacier Peak from the westside of the Cascades. Not so from the Buck Creek Trail - where it looms over you like a white monolith. Add to that fields of late summer flowers and a pleasant afternoon breeze and you may be close to rapture. The Buck Creek Trail is the current route of the Pacific Crest Trail, and the through hikers will be most appreciative of our smoothing out some of the rougher spots along their way. A trip to the pass on the day off provides a punctuation mark to the week. SPACES REMAINING:8

Tell me more
Show Map
Wenatchee River Ranger District Yes The Chiwawa River trail leading up to Chiwawa Basin and onto the flanks of Red Mountain is now part of the Glacier Peak Wilderness. However, like much of this area of the Cascades it was an active mining district up until its designation as wilderness. It is good that it is now protected since it is a beautiful area that invites high country rambling. The trail to the basin and the one switchbacking up the flanks of Red Mountain has been damaged by an avalanche that has resulted in many trees across the trail and some damaged tread. We will start by logging out the trees blocking the trail and if time allows will get to work on the tread.
